Unlicensed Driver Charged With Felony For Fatal PA Crash: Police

A woman has been charged with a felony in connection with a fatal Lancaster County crash, police announced on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Gleny Asencio De Valdez, 47, of Lancaster, was charged and arrested for Felony Accidents Involving Death or Injury While Not Licensed, and summary offenses for Driving Without A License, Learner accompanied - at least 18/21 years old, Vehicle Turning Left on Thursday, Oct. 17, according to the Manheim Township police and confirmed by court documents. 

The charges stem from a crash she allegedly caused by turning left without a green arrow on Fruitville and Manheim pikes striking another vehicle that was going straight with a green light on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023. The police confirmed these details with traffic cameras and by testing the lights. The other driver was hospitalized with severe injuries, but ultimately died on Monday, Oct. 14 of this year, according to police.

Asencio De Valdez did not have a driver's license and instead was operating her vehicle with a learner's permit without the required licensed adult in her vehicle.

Gleny Asencio De Valdez's preliminary arraignment by Magisterial District Judge Courtney M. Monson at 10:30 a.m. the day she was arrested, according to her court docket. She was released on $15,000 unsecured bail. Her preliminary hearing is set before the judge at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29.
